If your cello insurance schedule exceeds $100,000 USD, you may qualify for a preferred rate—based on a few key factors:

  • 📊 Total insured value of your instrument schedule
  • 🔐 in place for your instruments
  • 🎓 Your background and experience as a musician or collector
  • 🏠 —temperature, humidity, and security
  • 🚚 —how often your cello leaves your insured address

Preferred rates are offered following a fully completed application and underwriting review. If you qualify, we’ll let you know—and help you save.

Homeowners Insurance is NOT the Solution

⚠️ Why Homeowner’s Insurance Isn’t Enough for Your Cello

  • 💸 Limited Coverage: Most homeowner’s policies cap musical instrument coverage at $2,000—especially if you receive any “pay for play.” If your cello is valued above this, consider dedicated coverage through the Anderson Signature Insurance Program.
  • 🚫 No Business Use: Instruments used in paid performances are typically excluded. That’s considered “business use,” and claims may be denied. Anderson covers casual, professional, and business use—no exceptions.
  • 🌊 No Flood Protection: Unless you carry a separate flood policy, homeowner’s insurance won’t cover water damage. We include flood coverage for itemized instruments.
  • 🌍 No Earthquake Coverage: Earthquake damage is also typically excluded—especially for musical instruments.
  • 💥 No Impact Coverage: Homeowner’s policies rarely cover breakage from bumping, falling, or dropping. These perils are not listed—and claims are often denied. View our full Cello Policy here.
  • 📏 Stated Value vs. Actual Cash Value: Anderson provides Stated Value coverage—you know exactly what your cello is insured for. Homeowner’s policies typically settle claims on an Actual Cash Value basis (replacement cost minus depreciation).
  • 🧾 Ask Your Agent: Many cellos appreciate over time. Be sure to ask your homeowner’s agent—in writing—how claims would be handled. You don’t want to discover a coverage gap after a loss.
