🆕 Harps Less Than 30 Years Old
Appraisals are typically not required for harps under thirty years old. However, we recommend confirming your harp’s value annually—usually available from your harp manufacturer’s website.
📜 Harps Over 30 Years Old or No Longer Manufactured
These instruments require additional documentation to ensure accurate coverage:
- A written appraisal from your harp manufacturer, a credentialed harp maker, appraiser, or repair technician. This must include:
- Condition of the harp
- Current market value, defined as the price agreed upon by a willing buyer and seller
Note: Even fully restored older harps may not match the value of similar new models. Harps no longer in production may also require adjusted valuations.
- A copy of your bill of sale and any receipts for prior restorations (unless waived by underwriting)
- We advise against insuring an older harp for more than its realistic resale value. Over-insuring may result in paying for coverage you cannot utilize.
🔒 Theft from Unlocked Vehicle Exclusion
If your instrument is in a vehicle, the vehicle must be locked at all times. Coverage for theft, pilferage, burglary, or robbery is provided only if there are visible signs of forced entry on the exterior or lock mechanisms.
🛡️ Terrorism Coverage
Coverage for terrorism-related losses is included at no additional charge, as defined under the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA).
💻 Electronic Equipment & Software
Electronic gear and software may be added to your policy at a rate of $0.72 per $100 of insured value. This includes:
- Audio software
- VST & VSTi plugins
- Synch licenses using virtual or hardware dongles
This charge is in addition to your musical instrument and accessory premium.
🎻 Rental Reimbursement Coverage
Included at no extra cost for WHC members in good standing.
Provides up to $225/month for up to 12 months to cover rental costs during timely repair of a covered loss—if you do not have an equivalent idle instrument available.

🎻 Does My Homeowners Policy Cover My Harps?
- Limited Coverage: Most homeowners policies cover harps up to a modest limit—typically less than $2,000 total. If your harp exceeds this value, consider dedicated Harp Insurance.
- Business Use Exclusion: If your harp is used during a paid performance, it may be considered business use—and your homeowners policy may not respond. Anderson Harp Insurance covers casual, professional, and business use.
- No Flood Coverage: Homeowners policies do not cover flood damage unless you carry a separate flood policy. Anderson Harp Insurance does cover flood damage to listed instruments.
- No Earthquake Coverage: Earthquake damage is rarely covered under homeowners policies—and even less likely to include harps.
- Unlisted Perils: Harp Insurance covers risks like falling, cracking, bumping, and dropping—which are not listed perils under standard homeowners policies. Every claim is reviewed by a company adjuster.
📄 View the full Anderson Harp Policy - Lower Deductible: Harp Insurance offers deductibles as low as $250, while homeowners policies often start at $1,000+.
- Agreed Value vs. Actual Cash Value: Harp Insurance provides Agreed Value coverage. Homeowners policies may only offer Actual Cash Value (replacement cost minus depreciation), which can undervalue your harp—even if it’s in top condition.
- Coverage C Impact: If your harp’s value is deducted from your Personal Property (Coverage C), it may reduce protection for other essentials like linens, furniture, and appliances.
