Homeowners Insurance is NOT the Solution

⚠️ Why Homeowner’s Insurance Isn’t Enough for Your Instrument

  • 💸 Coverage Limits: Most homeowner’s policies cap musical instrument coverage at $2,000—especially if you receive any “pay for play.” If your instrument is valued above this, consider the Anderson Signature Insurance Program.
  • 🚫 No Business Use: Instruments used in paid performances are typically excluded. Anderson covers casual, professional, and business use—no exceptions.
  • 🌊 No Flood Coverage: Unless you carry a separate flood policy, homeowner’s insurance won’t protect your instruments. We include flood coverage for itemized instruments.
  • 🌍 No Earthquake Coverage: Earthquake damage is also typically excluded—especially for musical instruments.
  • 💥 Excluded Perils: Homeowner’s policies rarely cover falling, cracking, or breakage. Claims adjusters often assess value after a loss—and exclude damage from bumping, dropping, or impact. View our full Coverage Form.
  • 📏 Stated Value Coverage: Anderson provides clear, agreed-upon values for your itemized instruments—no guesswork at claim time.
  • 🧾 Actual Cash Value Risk: Most homeowner’s policies settle claims on an Actual Cash Value basis (replacement cost minus depreciation). Many instruments appreciate over time. Ask your homeowner’s agent—in writing—how claims would be handled. Don’t wait until after a loss to discover a coverage gap.
